What Is The Difference Between DVI-I And DVI-D?

DVI-I and DVI-D are connectors that can send out a digital signal and an analog signal. DVI-I supports digital and analog signals, while DVI-D provides a digital-only signal. You cannot plug a DVI-I cable into a DVI-D monitor because the line would not fit in the connector.

DVI-I allows a higher bandwidth when its connectors utilize all 24 pins. It also supports a screen resolution up to 2560*1600 at 60Hz or 1920*1080 at 144Hz.

DVI-I and DVI-D have good video quality. Both connectors can transmit more explicit and higher-resolution videos than other connectors. DVI-I connectors have more pins and allow for a faster refresh rate, and it does not support audio.

  • Digital connection

DVI-I cable does not fit in the connectors because you cannot plug a DVI-I cable into a DVI-D monitor. Most video cards have CVI-I connectors because these cards support both analog and digital video. But some video cards have DVI-D connectors that mean you cannot use a DVI-I cable.

Which is best?

DVI-D is the most style that is why all DVI-capable devices on the market use a DVI-D interface. DVI-I analog-only cables are rare, and their analog devices are non-existent.  

DVI-D only transports digital signals over the DVI-I cable because DVI-I transports digital and analog. DVI-I is primarily helpful if you are trying to connect to a VGA- only printer using a DVI-I adapter.

When we determine the best picture quality and versatility, a DVI-I cable is best. It allows the flexibility you need whether you are streaming from an analog.
